When
metal gets warm (as in summer conditions) the pores of the metal
open up and the Liquid Gold Liquid Lanolin penetrates deeper
into the metal surface. Once Lanolin Gold Liquid Lanolin
has been applied to the surface of the metal, the surface will
have a slightly waxy feel to it.
Over
a period of time, because the Lanolin Gold Liquid Lanolin
has worked it's way deeper into the metal, the metal surface will
feel dry and possibly show signs of light rust starting to appear.
At this stage the Lanolin Gold Liquid Lanolin needs to
be reapplied.
However,
because the previous coat of Lanolin Gold Liquid Lanolin
still exists deeper in the metal, over a period of applications,
the time between reapplications will increase, eventually the
entire interior of the metal will become pickled with Lanolin
Gold Liquid Lanolin and reapplication will be very rare (this
may take 4 or 5 applications over 3 to 4 years).
As
a reapplication guide, for normal weathering conditions (non marine),
after the initial coat of Lanolin Gold Liquid Lanolin,
reapplication may be required after 12 months, and again after
another 18 months, and a further application 2 years later. It
is best to reapply Lanolin Gold Liquid Lanolin if any light
rust forms on the surface. In some cases 1 application of Lanolin
Gold Liquid Lanolin is all that is required.
Rusted
surfaces, remove as much rust as is possible with a wire brush
prior to application of Lanolin Gold Liquid Lanolin, removing
loose, flaking rust. Apply Lanolin Gold Liquid Lanolin
directly over rusted surfaces, the lanolin will penetrate through
the rust and into the clean metal underneath, encapsulating the
rust and stopping further corrosion forming In the case of rust
forming under painted surfaces, causing paint blisters, the Lanolin
Gold Liquid Lanolin will penetrate through the paint and through
the rust, preventing further corrosion.
Application
of Liquid Gold Liquid Lanolin on metal is best applied
onto metal which is warm to the touch (eg left in the sun for
an hour to warm up). If applying in cold conditions we suggest
heating the metal if possible before applying.
Application
for anti-corrosion, apply a small amount of Lanolin Gold Liquid
Lanolin to the surface and rub lightly with a rag to spread
over the surface. Allow to stand for at least an hour if possible.
Then rub any excess off the surface with a clean rag.
Caution,
Lanolin Gold Liquid Lanolin will leave a sticky film on
the surface if it is over-applied, if this occurs, continue to
rub the Lanolin Gold Liquid Lanolin further into the surface
with a clean rag until stickyness dissapears.
For
using Lanolin Gold Liquid Lanolin as a lubricant, apply
a small amount to the surface requiring the lubrication and spread
evenly over the surface with a clean rag.
